Freight transport is electrifying fast, but an electric truck with several hundred kWh of battery can't wait hours to charge. For electric long-haul to work in practice, the truck must be able to charge during the driver's statutory rest break. That is exactly what the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) solves.
What is MCS?
MCS is a new charging standard developed for heavy vehicles, with power levels far beyond what CCS can deliver. Where an ordinary fast charger tops out around 350–400 kW, MCS is designed for megawatt-class power – enough to give a long-haul truck many hours of driving in under 45 minutes.
GRASEN S 1600
GRASEN's S 1600 system delivers up to 1500 kW through MCS with a liquid-cooled cable, while also supporting CCS2 at up to 600 A for today's vehicles. The system is distributed: a single power cabinet of up to 1600 kW shares power dynamically between up to 20 charge points, so the depot makes maximum use of its grid connection.
